How do you feel about grammarly? The portion of it not where it writes for you but corrects grammar and structural issues. Is there an ethical dilemma there?

I think grammarly is great! And even though I bring up some ethical questions about generative AI in the Substack, I do expect within the next 1-2 years most writers will be using it in some form. I think it's more important that the conversations around ethical usage and transparency be had sooner vs later. There's a lot of things generative AI can do well and it can help from an efficiency point of view.

Thanks for your thoughts. 🙏🏽 I appreciate grammarly because I’m a bad speller and sometimes my sentence structure is off. They have added an AI feature I don’t use, and many times I don’t like their “suggested”word, I like a traditional thesaurus better. The grammar feature is great because I don’t have to use my husband all the time.

For sure! My day job is medical writing and an editor goes over everything I write and helps correct sentence structure/commas so I fully recognize how much help it is to have something or someone else reviewing your work!
